Banchory East Homepage

Banchory East relates to an area of land between the eastern edge of Banchory and the land controlled by the National Trust for Scotland around Crathes Castle. This area of land has been the subject of some development already, with more planned, but these projects form part of a larger masterplan, which is being developed in some detail at the present time.

The Woodend Barn Arts Centre is the venue for a diverse range of community based arts and musical events, and offers a hub for the expansion that has occurred in recent years. There is an area of allotments, with a recent expansion now completed, and also the recent addition of a Cafe/Bistro. A new church has also recently opened, and two full sized and two half sized rugby pitches have been created, to provide the new home of Deeside Rugby Club. Environmental improvements have also taken place to provide a wild garden.

A LDP bid was submitted in November 2008 for further development opportunities in the area, based around a central principle of sustainability and the use of low and zero carbon technology.

Aberdeenshire Council are also keen to explore the potential for a Park and Ride service in the near future, and therefore Bancon have sought to integrate this into the masterplan for the area.
